Integral to Aotearoa New Zealand’s health, safety and wellbeing ecosystem are the sector groups and leadership bodies. These associations work to align, uplift and improve health, safety and wellbeing outcomes for their sectors. They work with industry to initiate and roll-out projects that reduce harm and protect their people.

Supporting the construction sectors to improve health and safety
Our vision is to shift health and safety in the construction industry from inconsistent compliance to consistent competence to have health and safe workers as a natural outcome of good work. We provide evidence robust guidance and tools to help you manage health, safety and wellbeing harm in your business - whatever size that is.

GHSL
The GHSL is a small team tasked with providing practical support to chief executives, senior leaders and the health and safety teams of government agencies to enable their leadership of health and safety for the benefit of all New Zealanders.
The GHSL works with 50 public service and other government agencies to:
strengthen system capability
build cross-sector relationships that sustain learning and intelligence about what works
raise awareness of issues and opportunities
support sharing of proactive and joined up responses
develop resources to support the system, where is it practical to do so.

SaferFarms
An organisation dedicated to leading and inspiring a safer farm culture throughout New Zealand to ultimately prevent injury and fatality on farm.
SaferFarms are the Kaitiaki (steward) of the sector-wide Farm Without Harm (FWH) startegy and our role is to lead and inspire the agricultural sector to make farms safer places to work and live. We are in service to the sector to reduce preventable injury and deaths across all corners of rural New Zealand, shifting the dial on those stubbornly high harm statistics.
We work alongside our members, partners and stakeholder to amplify and support the work already being undertaken, ensure visibility and shared learnings across the sector, and facilitate strong, aligned leadership to drive a culture of care on farm.

SafeTree
Together we create change
Safetree provides resources and runs programmes to help people run safe and successful forestry operations. People from across the sector are involved in developing its initiatives.
Safetree is run by the Forest Industry Safety Council (FISC), a pan-industry body set up to lead harm prevention efforts in forestry. FISC includes representatives of forest owners, forest managers, contractors, farm foresters, ACC, WorkSafe, unions and workers.

StayLive
We collaborate and share learnings within our industry to drive material and sustainable improvement in health, safety and wellbeing. This is because we care about our employees, contractors and members of the public.
The StayLive initiative has seen competitor companies come together to pool their resources for the single objective to improve health and safety in the industry. The group meets formally every six weeks and the working group leaders provide updates on the current initiatives and where safety alerts and the lessons learned are shared and discussed. Where working groups are able to come to agreement on common approaches, guidelines are prepared for the industry.

MarineSAFE
MarineSAFE provides video-based training programmes and uses real fishing footage to support learning associated with risk management in the commercial fishing industry. The programmes are focused on improving health, wellbeing, and safety outcomes, and reducing injury rates.
MarineSAFE has been supported by ACC and the NZ Federation of Commercial Fishermen so the resources developed are FREE and available to all fishers and others keen to learn about our industry.

MinEx - Health and safety in New Zealand Extractives
MinEx is the national health and safety council for New Zealand extractive sector - mining, quarrying, and tunnelling. MinEx works with government and industry to implement new legislation, regulation and training, so every quarry and mine puts the health and safety of its workers first.

The Business Leaders' Health and Safety Forum is a coalition of business and government leaders committed to improving the performance of workplace health and safety in New Zealand.
Our vision is leaders building cultures that enable people and businesses to thrive.
The Forum was launched in 2010 by Prime Minister John Key with just under 100 members, and has now grown to more than 400 members who are CEOs, Managing Directors, or Country Heads of New Zealand organisations.
